Air pollution monitoring equipment - The Department of Environmental Protection and Main Roads Department of Western Australia  'Airwatch' air pollution monitoring equipment. It  includes a battery operated pump, flow meter, filters and the reagents necessary to monitor nitrogen dioxide and carbon particles in the air. The equipment is mounted in a solid aluminium case which may be chained at its location (eg. to a pole at the side of a busy road) and left to sample air over a number of hours.
Anatomical models - Joints: shoulder, hip, elbow, knee (click here for carrying case packing layout.)
Animal kingdom - preserved animal specimens embedded in plastic blocks (each 75mm x 100mm) in presentation case.  Specimens included are: Porifera, Coelenterata, Platyhelminthes, Annelida, Arthropoda, Mollusca, Echinodermata and Chordata. The specimen names are printed on the sheet beneath the blocks, the blocks themselves are labelled only by number  enabling the specimens to be used for classification exercises. There is a total of 70 plastic embedded specimens.
Plant kingdom - preserved plant specimens embedded in plastic blocks (each 75mm x 100mm) in presentation case. Specimens included are: Algae, Ascomycetes, Basidiomycetes, Lichens, Liverworts, Mosses, Pteridphyta, Angiosperms (monocots, dicots, insectivorous, parasitic, saprophytic, epiphytic.)
There is a total of 50 specimens in the kit which are labelled in the same manner as the animal kingdom set.
Anthropology fossil skull set - click for full description

Anthropology fossil skull - addition to skull kit, Homo sapiens neanderthalensis

Binocular microscope - with built-in 240 volt light source and mechanical stage, eypieces: 10x, objectives: 4x, 10x, and 40x.

Fossil set - 17 mixed plant and animal fossil specimens embedded in a plastic block measuring 150mm x 75mm. Each specimen is individually labelled with name and geological period.

Geology microscope - A monocular microscope with built in 240volt light source and phase contrast and polarised light viewing capabilities. Includes 8x and 10x eyepieces and 4x, 10x, 40x objectives plus a 100x oil immersion lens.

Geology  sieves - a set of six 200mm diameter brass soil sieves with mesh sizes 12.5mm, 6.3mm, 2.8mm, 1.0mm, 500microns, 250microns.

Heart rate monitors - set of 10 "Polar Beat" heart rate monitors. Consists of a transmitter which straps onto the chest and a receiver with digital display which is worn on the wrist. Monitors heart rate continually during rest or exercise.
High Voltage Power Packs. can be used for the "Mass of electron" experiment.
Specifications
Total load max. current:   10mA approx.

Human reproduction and contraception "Magnel Kit" - consists of a vinyl coated steel panel with a picture of the male reproductive system on one side and female on the other. Magnetic add-on pieces show the menstrual cycle, ovulation, foetal development and contraception methods. The coating on the panel allows labelling with crayon or whiteboard marker which are easily erased.
Hydrogen fuel cell models - basic model demonstrates solar hydrogen technology.
The "HyRuner" car demonstrates the concept of propulsion from fuel cells.

Proscope:  This is a hand held microscope that is attached to a computer. The case contains a laptop with the software and settings already loaded. The  software  enables still photos and videos to be taken of the viewed object. The laptop has a CD, DVD,  burner to enable work to be saved. There are 3 different lenses x10, x50, x200.
Solar photovoltaic cell - an array of silicon cells which produces an electrical potential of 12volts. The power output is approximately 0.7watt which is sufficient to trickle charge a 12volt car battery or drive a small electric motor. The unit measures 460mm x 360mm.

Sound level meter - low range measures 0 to 80dB, high range measures 80 t0 120dB.
Sphygmomanometers - set of 10 digital sphygmomanometers which deflate automatically measuring diastolyic and systolic pressure plus heart rate.
Spirometer (Vitalograph, electronic type) - used to determine lung capacity. An individual's performance may be monitored and compared with expected norms. The results are shown on a LCD screen and may also be printed on special thermal paper. If a number of consecutive measurements are to be made then the moisture filter should be changed, washed and dried regularly during use, otherwise a build up of moisture on the screen will give erroneous results. On a cool day the filter should be cleaned after every two or three tests. The kit comes complete with disposable mouthpieces, a spare moisture filter, nose clip and charts of selected case histories.

Telescope (8inch Meade) - the telescope is packed in a foam lined metal carrying case. The case contains the main telescope assembly with motor drive unit, 2 eyepieces MA 9mm (222x) and MA 25mm (80x), eyepiece holder, 5 x 24mm viewfinder, 240volt AC power cord, tripod support bracket (star), mounting screws and comprehensive instruction manual. DO NOT attempt to observe the sun through the telescope - instant and irreversible injury to the eye is likely to result as well as damage to the telescope.

Videoflex camera - a video camera lens mounted on an adjustable stem with microscope attachment adaptor. The lens focuses from 10cm to infinity enabling subjects to be viewed directly or through a microscope. Plugs directly into video recorder and is powered by a 12volt power supply (included in kit.)
Water analysis kit - the Palintest water test kit is a simple but very accurate method of determining levels of dissolved salts in water samples. Special reagents, which are compressed into tablet form, are dissolved in 10mL of the water sample contained in a special vial made from very high optical quality glass. The change in colour of the sample is measured using a photometer and the digital readout is used in conjunction with a calibration chart to determine the concentration of the substance under test. Test tablets are available for nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, sulphate, fluoride, molybdate, potassium, iron, copper, manganese, zinc, aluminium, ammonia and chlorine.
Water testing meters - digital electronic meters which enable the following measurements to be taken: temperature, conductivity, salinity, pH and dissolved oxygen.

Soil analysis kit - the Palintest soil test kit is similar in principal to the water analysis kit described above.
Soil "extraction tablets" are used to produce solutions from the soil sample under test and the extracted solution is filtered and tested in the same manner as the water tests. Test tablets are available for aluminium, ammonia nitrogen, chloride, copper, iron, lime requirement, manganese, nitrate nitrogen, pH, phosphate, potassium and sulfate. A comprehensive instruction manual is provided with the kit.
